Bath Open 2007
The second Bath Open, held on Sunday 19th August was a great success. (photos to follow!)
Participants enjoyed a relaxed, friendly day and the rain held off until about 4pm (when the semi and finalist players found themselves piste upon).
The winners were Boules Mariniere - Rog, Nic and Bev are all Club members and play in the Brunel league.
Runners up were Down & Dirty (Barney, Dan & Jimmy). Despite the name they're a charming bunch who were only just beaten by Boules Mariniere in a tight final ending 13-12.
Making it to the semi finals were last years winners The Cool Boulers and Shaw Thing.
Winners of the Plate were Bog One (captained by Bruce) who beat The Tasting Room (captained by Martin) in another thrilling final ending 13-12.
The Club is very grateful to the Competition's sponsors Pritchard Estate Agents, and to Graham from The Lockeeper who masterminded the game play.
Huge thanks to the Harington Club who let use their facilities before, during and after the game, and to Tilleys who provided the lunch.
And to those providing raffle prizes including Bath Ales and Tilleys.
The event is held every year to raise funds for piste construction - the first of which was built in Alexandra Park earlier this year, with a second one to be constructed in Bath when enough funds are raised. Depending on the location and circumstances, it costs upwards of £2,800 to build a competition standard piste, and sponsorship from the business community is always welcome.
