Alexandra Park Piste open!

The piste was opened on 2nd April by Bath Rugby star and really rather good boules player David Bory.

Alexandra Park is the 'second' home piste of the club and allows members to play when Queen Square is being used for other activities. Just as importantly it provides a local piste for Lyncombe so that more people can enjoy playing petanque closer to home.

The Club hopes that the piste in Alexandra Park will be the first of many community piste's around the city.

The City of Bath Petanque Club are raising money for facilities (such as lighting) for the new piste in Alexandra Park.

If your business would be interested in helping to sponsor the Alexandra Park piste please contact Don for details of how you can do this.

Thanks to our sponsors We'd like the thank the people that made the building of Alex Piste possible - from the generous individuals and business - to all those who supported our various fundraising events.

get active

Bath and North East Somerset is offering grants to community organisations so more people can take part in sport and leisure activities. The council has launched Get Active, a vision for sport and active leisure for the next five years that has a number of targets for helping people to get fit.

To help turn this vision into a reality, Bath & North East Somerset Council is promoting Get Funded. This scheme offers up to £3,000 to new and existing sport and leisure organisations so they can finance projects and ideas.

We are delighted to be able to provide a Get Funded grant to the City of Bath Petanque Club to contribute to the new petanque piste, Alexandra Park in Bath.

The Sport and Active Leisure Team’s Get Active Vision is to :

  * Create a framework to increase physical activity levels in Bath and North East Somerset by at least 1% per year

  * Create a platform on which a wide range of partners can join together to create a more co-ordinated approach to the delivery of Sport & Active Leisure

  * Raise awareness of the role that Sport and Active Leisure can play in developing the economic and social health of the area

  * Raise sporting standards at grass roots level to increase representation at county, regional, national and international level
